Highcroft Hurricanes are ready to STORM Cary City!

It’s time to sign up for the Cary City Meet. Registration is now open! Register as you would for every other meet - respond if you are ATTENDING or NOT ATTENDING and pick your events.

We know that some swimmers/families have been looking forward to Cary City all season, and some are new to Cary City and don’t know much about it. We’ve compiled a list of FAQs to give you more information.  It is a really fun time – probably the most fun meet of the year – don’t miss it!

CARY CITY MEET FAQs

What is the Cary City Meet? What makes it so special?
The Cary City Meet is a meet where all swim teams in the Cary area are invited. The Highcroft Hurricanes will have a tent where all swimmers and parents hang out. Kids will swim, parents will cheer, and we will show our Hurricane spirit. Each team has a theme (ours is Minions). We will make posters and have gifts that we will deliver to all of the teams. We will receive good luck gifts (lots of candy) that our swimmers will share. There will be food, treats, swimming, tons of cheers, chances to show good sportsmanship, and lots of fun. It’s a very festive atmosphere, and it is really fun to be a part of it!

When is the Cary City Meet? Where?
Saturday, July 14th -- 10 and under swimmers will compete in the morning (warm ups at approximately 7am; meet starts at 8am). 11 and up swimmers are in the afternoon (warm ups at approximately 1:30; meet starts at 2:15). It is an early start for the younger kids, but it’s so much fun when you get there that you will forget that you are tired. This year the Cary CityMeet is at Scottish Hills (1423 Tarbert Drive, Cary).

Can anyone come to the Cary City Meet or is it just for fast swimmers?
The Cary City Meet is for all Hurricane swimmers, and we hope that everyone will come! Fast or slow, it doesn’t matter. Coach Maddie, Coach Josh and Coach Emily are hoping we have tons of swimmers there to show what a great team we are. Be prepared for a lot of fun!

What events do they have at Cary City?
The events are the same as a regular season meet – Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly. 6 and unders swim only Freestyle and Backstroke (but they do swim 25 yards at Cary City instead of the normal 15 yards). Swimmers that are 7 years and older can choose 3 events. The relays are so fun too!! There are ribbons involved for all participants that we get after the meet. We present them at the end of the season banquet.

What does it cost to attend the Cary City Meet?
There are fees, but the Highcroft Hurricanes take care of all fees for our swimmers. But if you sign up to swim, we will count on you being there!

Will I see friends from other neighborhoods?
Almost every swim team in Cary participates. We don’t compete against teams like The Reserve, Cary Park, etc. during the regular season, so the is a GREAT time to see everyone! You can visit other tents to visit with friends from other neighborhoods!
